The Wine Society
An app designed to support wine tastings and make the world of wine more accessible to people regardless of their level of experience. The application guides users through the wine tasting process with sensory questions, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the color, taste, and aroma of wines. By using the app, users can enhance their wine knowledge while enjoying a fun and engaging social gathering with friends.
There was a clear preference for incorporating engaging and memorable features to make learning about wine enjoyable and entertaining. As a result, the app features a colorful and playful design, complemented by engaging content like fun facts. These fun facts are personalized and tailored to your previous answers about the wine.
1. Context
Wine tasting is often perceived as pretentious, making it intimidating for many to explore. My goal was to challenge this perception and make wine tasting simple, enjoyable, and accessible to everyone. I focused on understanding users' needs, preferences, and the barriers they face when learning about wine, by conducting surveys, interviews and concept testing.
2. Ideation
In the ideation phase, I brainstormed and explored creative solutions to address the needs and challenges identified earlier. Working with fellow designers, we generated ideas for features that would make wine tasting accessible and enjoyable. The goal was to translate insights into clear design directions, focusing on simplicity, usability, and user engagement.
3. Explore
I designed both low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes to test and explore various design options and interactions. Through user testing, I observed reactions and identified potential issues, ensuring the design was intuitive and aligned with user expectations before proceeding.
4. Validation
I conducted thorough user testing in real scenarios to validate the final design. This process helped ensure that the design met user needs and expectations. Based on the feedback, I iterated on the features and fine-tuned the experience to ensure it was seamless, functional, and aligned with the project’s initial goals.
